LAP-BAND Correction and Removal

LAP-BAND surgery places an adjustable band around the opening of the stomach. This band restricts how much food enters the stomach and was a popular weight loss procedure because it was seen as less permanent than other gastric surgery options, but also came with certain complications.

Common LAP-BAND complications include food intolerance, band slippage or erosion, heartburn, reflux, and esophageal dilation. Scar tissue can also form after a LAP-Band procedure is performed. Many LAP-BAND patients find that they do not see as impressive results after undergoing LAP-BAND surgery than other forms of bariatric surgery.

If you have questions about the LAP-BAND surgery or would like to explore having your LAP-BAND removed, please contact us.
